This past week I participated in an exercise, and was asked to come up with a 6 word mission.
This is what immediately came out of me:
Share my story, change the world.
I was struck by how true that simple statement is for me. How I’ve been living in to it. You are a part of it. Every week I share my story. I do it because for too long I ran from telling my own story.
It took me 14 years to finish my first memoir. The book changed and evolved a lot over that time. Even though it sat with me as a failure while it was unfinished, I’m grateful now the book took 14 years as the person I was when I finished it was not the person I was when I started it. The story I was able to share of myself at the end was far more real and impactful. And I’m all about impact.
My next book, Unorthodox Success, Secret Shame, was once again telling my story in the most impactful way possible. That one didn’t take 14 years.
I like writing because it helps me clarify thoughts in my own head. I write the books I wish existed. I also like writing because it works within the schedule I like living. I write when I’m inspired to.
I continue to share my story every week with the Frolic 100. When I asked the attendees of my recent Ask Me Anything what they got out of being a part of the Frolic 100, “inspiration” was the most given answer.
I have a commitment to release an article once a week for the Frolic 100, and otherwise I create as I’m moved.
I change the world by sharing my story one article, one book, one reader, or one Zoom at a time.
That makes me feel good to have summed it up like that.
What’s your six word mission?
Reply back. I’d love to hear it.
