Action is the defining element I see most when I look at people who get anywhere and those that spin their wheels.
However, it’s a specific type of action that matters. Many people create busy work to avoid doing the real work that will actually change things.
Dreaming and scheming means nothing without action.
Often, it’s an amazing little amount of action that is needed, when it’s the right one.
Looking back at my work history:
I created and published a book by its 60 day deadline because I declared it to my community.
My previous book, which sat unfinished for 14 years, was finally completed when I decided on a 6 month release date, culminating in a book launch at a famous Toronto concert hall, attended by over 200 people and covered in the local newspaper.
Stealth Seminar went from creation to launch in just 3 months, demonstrating the power of decisive action.
After taking a hypnosis training, I walked into a bar and offered to do a show in the bar two weeks later. I then pitched a morning news show to have me on as a guest to promote that bar show (since I was a “professional”)!
I signed a record deal for my DJ series with no experience, because I sent out demo tapes to the major labels and didn’t let the little story that I didn’t have enough experience stop me.
I threw my first rave by picking a date, and then having to go through with it. Basically, that was the formula 45 more times, no matter how difficult it was.
As I write this out, and look at my list, there is a common thread of committing myself to a date and just going for it. This has also shown up recently with my presenting my Impossible Goals framework at a university, and before that attending and speaking at COP28 last year with only a month to plan. That I had committed myself to going, before having all the details worked out was important.
I can be a master of “How” – once a commitment to do a thing is in front of me.
This is why ACTION is a necessary part of what I call “The Big Drive” along with Mindset and Fusion Energy (that I’ve already written about previously). Put those 3 elements together and magic happens.
That’s why I’m calling on this proven formula once again. I know it works.
I’m doing it in real time – I declared that I’m doing a Big Drive starting at the start of 2025 with a focus on creating new money, and things started coming together immediately.
And this last month I’ve been doing something else I’ve enjoyed doing in recent years – pursuing my own self-mastery. Documenting my process and moving from unconscious competence, to conscious, and beyond (Mastery), as I write it out and teach it.
Even though my Big Drive doesn’t start officially until the beginning on 2025, I put myself into Action by declaring I would. I did it publicly, to my community. I’m already in The Big Drive.
And I tested myself by opening myself up to others who might want to be a part of it with me. Instead of making it next to impossible for people to work with me, I created a way to make it happen, by participating in something with me.
And I decided to focus on creating new money, partly because that’s a challenge most people face, and it would benefit me to create “new” money, as a mental exercise, instead of resting off my past achievements.
And then finally documenting it for my blog, as I have for everything I’ve done for the last six years. This is all part of the legacy I am creating.
What is a known catalyst to you for putting yourself into action?
