Fusion Energy is one of the Holy Grail technologies that humans have been pursuing for decades, and may one day change everything. If we entertain a “Star Trek” future of clean and abundant energy, the potential for humans is limitless.
Said at it’s most simplest – fusion energy produces more energy than it consumes. Our sun is an example of a fusion reactor. I do believe that humans will get there, just like other amazing scientific breakthroughs we have had. There are several large projects being built around the world as I write this. With unlimited clean fusion energy you could do things like desalinize water (very energy demanding), which solves another problem of ours. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Besides those real-world examples, I like to use Fusion Energy as a metaphor.
Fusion Energy is how I like to describe when certain people get into the room with one another, and together they create more energy than they consume. I’m sure you’ve been there or felt it before. You are energized, inspired, moved to action, and you at the same time are energizing, inspiring, and move the people around you into action. It feeds off itself. It feels magical.
We are often our own worst enemies, falling into bad habits of malaise and inertia. We have all the tools we need for greatness, and yet we… simply don’t do anything with it.
I know this feeling well.
That’s why I have used the concept of The Big Drive at previous times in my life when I knew I wanted to change gears and make something happen. Part of the success of it is its limited time frame. A highly concentrated focus to the start of the calendar year, and let momentum do the rest.
But it can’t be done in a vacuum. Fusion Energy is a key component. Other people, and maybe just a single other person, to check in with, and feed off each other’s courage, bravery, action taken, and overcoming in a highly concentrated time frame. Failures and successes have the same value, because it’s all about momentum. All are celebrated.
This is why Fusion Energy is a necessary component of The Big Drive.
But it’s only a part of it, combined with ACTION and MINDSET (I’ll explain my definition of those in articles to come).
