There’s a lot of discussion lately about Social Entrepreneurship, but in the same discussions there is talk about Impact Entrepreneurs. They are similar, but there are some distinctions.
For me, it boils down to something like this:
A social entrepreneur might set up a soup kitchen.
An impact entrepreneur creates a business that aims to solve homelessness.
I’ve spent a lot of time pondering this recently, combined with thinking about Double Bottom Line businesses.
These concepts are all definitely connected and I celebrate anyone trying to make a difference.
I like businesses that can scale, and I also like the idea of propagation. To that end, I’m attracted to the “impact” side of things and working with those that want to make an impact.
Paradoxically, I’m also an advocate of deceleration – slowing down your day.
This is how I live my life.
How does one create an impact from a decelerated place?
Exactly. I’ll leave that with you to answer for yourself.
